This online 5-hour workshop is designed specifically for mental health professionals to explore and expand their clinical toolbox. We will provide a foundational overview of the field of Expressive Arts Therapy and give you a variety of creative tools you can utilize with your clients. In this workshop, we will use a variety of expressive art methods including visual arts, writing, music, movement and role playing to explore the arts as therapeutic tools. This 42-Hour Drama Therapy training group will provide participants with an experience of being in a drama therapy group. A variety of drama therapy techniques will be utilized, including improvisation, acting techniques, psychodrama, Playback Theatre and other action methods. The experiential portion of the training will focus on the application of drama therapy as a powerful tool in working with individuals, couples and groups. The didactic portion of the training will offer a theoretical basis and rationale for the use of drama therapy in multiple clinical situations. This 14-week training will introduce peacebuilding and conflict transformation approaches to healing generational, historical and ancestral trauma through drama therapy. The course will involve experiential learning and techniques culled from drama therapy, psychodrama, sociodrama, Playback Theatre, expressive arts therapy, autobiographical therapeutic performance and Transactional Analysis. The experiential portion of the training will focus on the application of Healing the Wounds of History as a tool in working with individuals, groups and transforming societies. The didactic portion of the training will offer readings and a theoretical basis and rationale for the use of Healing the Wounds of History approaches in working through personal and collective trauma in multiple cultural and clinical contexts.Find out more »
Participants will explore formative moments in their lives and identify self-limiting beliefs transmitted by family, society and personal traumas. Group and individual therapy sessions will include an engagement with memories, images and emotions. Through the creation of your Autobiographical Therapeutic Performance (ATP) you will begin to embody new life-affirming narratives.
