Principles of Drama Therapy: Healing Through Action w/Armand Volkas – Live Online

September 10 - December 17

This 42-Hour Drama Therapy training group will provide participants with an experience of being in a drama therapy group. A variety of drama therapy techniques will be utilized, including improvisation, acting techniques, psychodrama, Playback Theatre and other action methods. The experiential portion of the training will focus on the application of drama therapy as a powerful tool in working with individuals, couples and groups. The didactic portion of the training will offer a theoretical basis and rationale for the use of drama therapy in multiple clinical situations. This training fulfills the Principles of Drama Therapy requirement for The North American Drama Therapy Association Alternate Training Program.

Foundations of Expressive Arts Therapy: A 14-Week Training Group – Live Online

September 11 - December 15

This experiential 45-hour training group will offer both a first-hand experience of the healing power of the arts as well as a foundational understanding of the theory and practice of expressive arts therapy.This training group is designed for psychologists, therapists, social workers, counselors, life coaches, healers, activists, group facilitators, and other mental health professionals. You will learn new skills and tools to support in the facilitation of the creative arts with individuals, couples, families and groups!

Healing Historical Trauma through Drama Therapy: A 14-Week Training Live Online

September 13 - December 13

This 14-week training will introduce peacebuilding and conflict transformation approaches to healing generational, historical and ancestral trauma through drama therapy. The course will involve experiential learning and techniques culled from drama therapy, psychodrama, sociodrama, Playback Theatre, expressive arts therapy, autobiographical therapeutic performance and Transactional Analysis. The experiential portion of the training will focus on the application of Healing the Wounds of History as a tool in working with individuals, groups and transforming societies. The didactic portion of the training will offer readings and a theoretical basis and rationale for the use of Healing the Wounds of History approaches in working through personal and collective trauma in multiple cultural and clinical contexts.

Theatre as a Therapeutic Act: Transform Your Life through Autobiographical Therapeutic Performance

September 21 - December 7

Participants will explore formative moments in their lives and identify self-limiting beliefs transmitted by family, society and personal traumas. Group and individual therapy sessions will include an engagement with memories, images and emotions. Through the creation of your Autobiographical Therapeutic Performance (ATP) you will begin to embody new life-affirming narratives. The journey will culminate in a "rite of passage" performance presented to a group of your invited witnesses.

Healing the Wounds of Patriarchy: A 9-Week Drama Therapy Group for Men

October 11 @ 4:00 pm - December 6 @ 7:00 pm

Patriarchy is a social system based on male dominance. It is a hierarchy that elevates some men over other men, and all men over women. These traumas not only shape our ways of being in the world, but perpetuate themselves across generations, and disconnect us from our full humanity. In this 7-week therapy group, we will use embodied action methods including drama therapy, psychodrama and theater improvisation to heal the personal and collective traumas engendered by patriarchy. Open to all male-identified participants. No theater experience required!
